Ski resort / mountain activity interactive maps
If you open probably any ski resort website and check the slope map, you will find a 3D schematic with slopes, lifts, and trails. The main problem with all those maps is that they are not easy to understand, most of them are not mobile-friendly, and I have never seen a map that can show your location on a resort. All these things make such schematics (or “maps”) very hard to use, especially when you visit a place for the first or second time.
Before I show you how to create an interactive ski/outdoor map with MakeMeMap (I will create an interactive map for the Morzine ski resort in France), let’s look at how a map on a resort website usually looks.

Yes, it looks fine visually, but it doesn’t solve the main goal of any map — to guide you around a place.
Why interactive ski maps created with MakeMeMap are much better than such schematics:
- Visitors can see their real-time location, which helps a lot to understand how to get to a lift or slope and which direction to choose
- Works really fast even on mobile and older devices because it’s a vector-based map
- Looks good even on small devices with smooth, usable zoom
- Has data about other places around, such as attractions, shops, restaurants, toilets, and parking spots, out of the box for most areas
- Includes slope information by default for most ski resorts worldwide
- Easy to customize, so no “schedule a call with our manager” is required to create, edit, and share a map
- Free for small traffic and fully predictable pricing
- Offline usage
Sounds great, right? Let’s check how to create such an interactive ski map:
- Create an account at makememap.com if you haven’t done it yet
- Create a map and select the “Ski” style in the map settings. Your map in the editor will look like the example below

- Add markers, images, trails, and routes if required
- Click the Share icon to copy the HTML code or just get a link
- Insert the iframe HTML code or share the link
That’s it — 5–10 minutes, and an interactive, mobile-friendly ski map with locations and routes is ready. Use it on your website, blog, CMS, or simply by sharing a link.
